Stephen Album sale 50, lot 971

This specimen was lot 971 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "SAXONY: Friedrich August I, 1694-1733, AR 2/3 thaler, 1700, Dresden Mint, a flan flaw on the reverse and some scratches in the obverse field, VF-XF, ex Dr. Robert A. Rosenfeld Collection." This type was struck 1697-1705 and is rather scarce despite the many dates produced. The 1700 comes with initials EPH or ILH. Frederick Augustus was also king of Poland.
