Sincona Auction 103, lot 375

This specimen was lot 375 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$457 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Sachsen, Herzogtum, ab 1547 Kurfürstentum, Albertiner, Johann Georg I. 1615-1656. Taler 1656 CR, Dresden. Münzmeister Constantin Rothe. Gutes sehr schön. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, Good Very Fine.)"

This coin was issued by the elector of Saxony in 1638-56 and is one of the common thalers of the seventeenth century.
