This specimen was lot 1473 in Goldberg Sale 146 (Los Angeles, July 2025), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Saxony. Taler, 1641-CR. Johann Georg I. Only 1 graded at PCGS. This taler is photo in the PCGS Pop Report. PCGS graded EF-45. The Augustana Collection." Saxony, one of the larger divisions of Germany and blessed with numerous silver mines, issued large numbers of thalers. This type was issued 1638-56. It is not rare but is less common than issues of the previous reign.
