Künker Auction 441, lot 4415

This specimen was lot 4415 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €2,600 (about US$3,577 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM Johann Georg I. und August, 1611-1615. Dicker doppelter Reichstaler 1614, Dresden. R Hübsche Patina, sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion Karla W. Schenk-Behrens 54, Essen 1987, Nr. 2159. (electorate of Saxony, John George and August, 1611-15, double thaler of 1614, Dresden mint. Rare, handsome patina, very fine.)"

This type was struck 1611-15 on single thaler dies (Dav-7573). The dies were also used to strike quadruple thalers (Dav-7570).
