This specimen was lot 24083 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Saxony. Johann Georg I and August Vicariat Taler 1612, AU58 NGC, lustrous with light golden-gray tone. This one-year type was issued to commemorate the death of Emperor Rudolf II." Many Saxon thalers of the early seventeenth century are common but this one is rare.
