Saxony 1601-HB 1/4 thaler
This specimen was lot 1264 in Jean Elsen sale 136 (Brussels, March 2018), where it sold for €120 (about US$176 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, SAXE, Christian II, Johann Georg Ier et August (1591-1611), AR quart de Taler, 1601HB, Dresde. D/ B. des trois frères de f. R/ Ecu orné. Belle patine. Très Beau à Superbe. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, Christian II, John George and August, 1591-1611, silver quarter thaler of 1601, Dresden mint. Obverse: the three brothers facing; reverse: ornate arms. Nice color, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type is listed for 1601-11 and is common enough to be affordable for the average collector.
