Saxe-Saalfeld 1720 thaler Dav-2742
This specimen was lot 1327 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$3,100 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SACHSEN-SAALFELD, HERZOGTUM, AB 1735 SACHSEN-COBURG-SAALFELD Johann Ernst VIII. 1680-1729. Reichstaler 1720, Saalfeld. Ausbeute der Saalfelder Gruben. RR Sehr attraktives Exemplar mit herrlicher Patina, kl. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand, vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Saxe-Saalfeld, John Ernest VIII, 1680-1729, thaler of 1720, Saalfeld mint, for the Saalfeld mines. Rare, attractive with nice patina, small rim cracks, extremely fine.)"
