Saxe-Hildburghausen 1760 1/2 thaler
This specimen was lot 1306 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €240 (about US$324 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SACHSEN, SACHSEN-HILDBURGHAUSEN, HERZOGTUM Ernst Friedrich Karl, 1745-1780. 1/2 Konv.-Taler 1760. R Kl. Fleck, sehr schön. Exemplar der Slg. Horn. (Germany, duchy of Saxe-Hildburghausen, Ernest Frederick Charles, half convention thaler of 1760. Stained, very fine.)"
This scarce issue is listed in SCWC as a 2/3 thaler but we think Künker's identification is correct. The gulden, originally 2/3 thaler, had slipped to half a thaler by the mid-eighteenth century.
