This specimen was lot 1749 in Jean Elsen sale 162 (Brussels, June 2025), where it sold for €220 (about US$305 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ALLEMAGNE, SAXE-WEIMAR, Friedrich Wilhelm et Johann (1573-1603), AR demi-Taler, 1583, Saalfeld. D/ B. de trois quarts à d., vêtu d'un manteau de fourrure, séparant la date. R/ B. de trois quarts à g., vêtu d'un manteau de fourrure. Petits coups sur la tranche. (Germany, duchy of Saxe-Weimar, Frederick William and John, 1573-1603, silver half thaler of 1583, Saalfeld mint. Obverse: bust three-quarters facing right, wearing a fur mantle, dividing the date; reverse: bust three-quarters facing left, wearing a fur mantle. Minor rim nicks, about Very Fine.)"

The duchy of Saxe-Weimar was created and fell extinct three times. This issue is from the first creation, "Saxe-Old Weimar". This type was struck 1582-1585, with the 1585 being a rare date.
