CNG Lissner collection, lot 571

This specimen was lot 571 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $302.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY, Regno d'Italia. Vittorio Emanuele II. 1861-1878. AR Lira. Milano (Milan) mint. Dated 1860 M. In NGC encapsulation graded AU 58. Deep iridescent toning with hues of blue. Purchased from Superior Stamp & Coin." This is the final date of a type struck 1850-60 at Milan (shown here), Turin and Genoa. This date is scarce but the prior ones are rare. The following year, Victor Emanuel was proclaimed king of a united Italy.
