Sardinia 1860(t) B 10 lire
This specimen was lot 1986 in Jean Elsen sale 162 (Brussels, June 2025), where it sold for €460 (about US$638 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALIE, SAVOIE et SARDAIGNE, Victor Emmanuel II (1849-1861), AV 10 lire, 1860 B, Turin. Rare. (Italy, kingdom of Sardinia, Victor Emanuel II, 1849-61, gold ten lire of 1860, Turin mint. Rare, Fine.)"
This type was struck 1850, 1853-60 in small numbers at Genoa (KM 145.2) and Turin (shown here). It is quite a bit scarcer than the similar twenty lire (Fr-1146). Victor Emanuel II was promoted to king of Italy in 1861 and his issues for Sardinia ended.
