Sincona sale 38, lot 1591

This specimen was lot 1591 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 900 CHF (about US$1,037 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Vittorio Emanuele II, 1849-1861 10 Lire 1855. Torino. Selten. Gutes sehr schön. (kingdom of Sardinia, Victor Emanuel II, 1849-61, ten lire of 1855, Turin mint. Rare. Good very fine.)"

This type was struck at Genoa 1850 only and Turin 1850-60 in very small numbers. Some dates are so rare as to be unpriced in the SCWC.
