Sarawak 1906-H 10 cents
This specimen was lot 72751 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $432. The catalog description[1] noted, "SARAWAK. 10 Cents, 1906-H. Heaton Mint. NGC MS-62. A handsome piece, offering a good deal of lustrous brilliance along with some speckled golden toning throughout. Just one example has been graded finer by NGC." Sarawak, a British colony on the northwest coast of Borneo, was ruled by a dynasty of white rajahs from 1841 to 1946. This type was issued 1900 and 1906-15 from Heaton. It is reasonably available in low grade but expensive in nice condition. It is accompanied by silver five, twenty and fifty cents.
