This specimen was lot 1555 in Steve Album sale 16 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2013), where it sold for $76.70. The catalog description[1] noted, "SARAWAK: Charles J. Brooke, rajah, 1868-1917, AR 5 cents, 1900-H, surface hairlines, EF." Sarawak, a British colony on the northwest coast of Borneo, was ruled by a dynasty of white rajahs from 1841 to 1946. This type was issued 1900 and 1908-15 from Heaton. It is reasonably available in low grade but expensive in nice condition. It is accompanied by silver ten, twenty and fifty cents.
Recorded mintage: 200,000 plus proofs.
