This specimen was lot 4372 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $352.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "SAN MARINO. 10 Centesimi, 1893-R. NGC MS-65 BN. Finest certified example. Attractive copper toning with hints of red peering through. Very sharp features." This type was struck by the Rome mint for the tiny republic of San Marino in 1875, 1893 and 1894. The mintage is low but many were saved as souvenirs so the type is available in lightly circulated condition.
