Sincona sale 76, lot 1551

This specimen was lot 1551 in Sincona sale 76 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 750 CHF (about US$910 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA. Salzburg, Erzbistum. Sigismund von Schrattenbach, 1753-1771. 1/4 Konventionstaler 1766, Salzburg. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich-FDC. NGC MS62. Hübsche Patina. (archbishopric of Salzburg, Sigismund von Schrattenbach, 1753-1771, quarter convention thaler of 1766, Salzburg mint. Rare in this condition, Extremely fine-uncirculated, Attractively toned.)"

This one year type is scarce but not rare. It accompanied a half thaler (KM 415), thaler (KM 402) and ducat (KM 407).

Specification: 7.01 g, 0.833 fine silver, this specimen 6.96 g.
