Goldberg NY International sale 59, lot 2227

This specimen was lot 2227 in Goldberg's NY International sale 59 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $14,400. The catalog description^[1] noted, "50 Kopecks 1909 ЭБ. Authenticated and graded by PCGS PR 63 (Pre-2008 holder, # 1011542). A most handsome example. Very choice brilliant PROOF." This is a better date of a type struck 1895-1914. The fifty kopeks replaced the old poltina or half ruble.
