This specimen was lot 31805 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $6,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nicholas II Proof 50 Kopecks 1895-AГ PR63 NGC, St. Petersburg mint. Obv. Bust of Alexander III right. Rev. Crowned double-headed eagle with date and value. Mottled blue patina with golden highlights. The strike is full and the fields are deeply mirrored with a few light marks consistent with the grade." This type was struck at St. Petersburg 1895-1914. A few dates also come without the mintmaster's initials (KM Y58.1, 1896-99). Many dates are rare but this one is only scarce.
