The first specimen was lot 21367 in Ponterio sale 161 (Chicago, August 2011), where it sold for $7,187.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 10 Ruble, 1894-AT. VERY RARE 10 Rubles of 1894. VERY RARE. Mintage of only 1,007 pieces. PCGS AU-58." The second specimen was lot 487 in Sincona sale 84 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 9,750 CHF (about US$13,129 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, 10 Roubles 1894, St. Petersburg Mint, (AG). Rare. Only 1,007 pieces struck. NGC MS63. Tiny edge flaw."

This type was struck 1886-94 and all dates are rare. The weight standard is that of an old French forty francs. Initials АГ stand for mintmaster Apollon Grasgof.

Recorded mintage: 1,007.

Specification: 12.90 g, 0.900 fine gold, .373 troy oz AGW, moneyer's initials on edge, the second specimen 12.90 g.
