This specimen was lot 58277 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 5 Kopeks, 1886-CNB AT. St. Petersburg Mint. Alexander III. PCGS MS-65." This denomination was struck in both copper (KM-Y12.2) and silver (shown here) during Alexander's reign but no copper 5 kopeks exists for 1886. Today, the silver piece is readily available (probably due to hoarding) but the copper type is hard to find in nice condition. The silver type was struck 1867-1914.
Recorded mintage: 2,000,000, a common date.
Specification: 0.90 g, 0.500 fine silver.
