Sincona sale 99, lot 207

This specimen was lot 207 in Sincona Auction 99 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 1,500 CHF (about US$2,261 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSLAND Kaiserreich und Föderation, Nicholas I. 1825-1855, Poltina 1841, St. Petersburg Mint, NG. Behind the second link of the laurel branch 1 berry. Selten. Gutes vorzüglich. (empire of Russia, Nicholas I, 1825-55, poltina of 1841, Rare. 1 rouble according to Petrov. 8 roubles according to Ilyin. About Uncirculated.)"

Altho struck in much much smaller numbers than the contemporary ruble, this type struck at St. Petersburg 1832-58 has about the same catalog value.

Recorded mintage: 10,000 plus proofs, a rare date.

Specification: 10.36 g, 0.868 fine silver, 28.5 mm diameter, this specimen 10.44 g.
