This specimen was lot 3342 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $23,500. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 5 Ruble, 1819-CNB MO. NGC MS-64. Finest certified at either NGC or PCGS. Sharply struck with attractive satiny surfaces. From the Dr. Michael Popoff Collection. Ex: Stack's Sale 06/1998, Lot #396." This type was struck 1817-25 and is scarce.
Recorded mintage: 963,000.
