This specimen was lot 41245 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $3,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Copper 4 Kopeks Novodel, 1796. Uncertain Mint. Catherine II "the Great". PCGS SPECIMEN-63 Brown. Possessing magnificent reflectivity with bold detail through the designs and significant compliments of complimentary deep blue color. Quite RARE as an issue, and certainly so in this distinctive quality. From the Yakov Averbuch Collection. Ex: Davissons (11/2002) Lot # 370." A similar novodel two kopeks (KM N272) is recorded for 1796. This issue comes with plain edge, obliquely reeded edge and "reticulated" edge. This denomination never went into production.
