This specimen was lot 304 in Sincona sale 19 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 600 (about US$752 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "15 Kopecks 1784, St. Petersburg Mint. About uncirculated and lustrous. Collector's note: 'Restrike?'." This denomination was struck in several styles during the reign of Catherine the Great, this style being used 1783-94, after which the denomination was dropped until the 1860's.
Recorded mintage: 2,168,000.
