Russia 1755-EI 10 kopeks
This specimen was lot 2190 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"RUSSLAND Kaiserreich und Föderation, Elizabeth, 1741-1761, Grivennik 1755, Red Mint, EI. Selten. Sehr schön. Kleine Stempelfehler. (empire of Russia, Elizabeth, 1741-61, grivennik of 1755, Red mint (Moscow). Rare. 1 rouble according to Petrov. 5 roubles according to Ilyin, Very Fine, Minor die flaws.)"
This type, an early dime, was struck at the Moscow mint 1746-57 and this EI assayer's initial used only in 1755. The type is not rare but this is a rare date. The denomination was nicknamed the grivennik.
