This specimen was lot 28814 in Heritage sale 3022 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $4,112.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Elizabeth I Poltina (1/2 Rouble) 1742 СПБ, Crowned bust of Elizabeth right / Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle with date and value, good VF. Bright surfaces, with a small reverse flan flaw." This type was issued from St. Petersburg (shown here) and Moscow 1741-61. Mintages were moderate but the type is rare today. A poltina was half a ruble.

Recorded mintage: 79,000 for 1742-45.

Specification: 12.93 g, .802 fine silver, .333 troy oz ASW.
