This specimen was part of lot 23136 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), which sold for $282. The catalog description[1] noted, "MIXED LOTS. Three Certified World Coins, 1933-45. NGC MS-63. A very desirable small lot of high grade 20th century coins, beginning with a 5 Rials from Iran dated SH 1312 (1933) that is full white and GEM BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED in an MS-65 holder followed by a 1939 Romania 250 Lei in MS-64, and finally a conditionally scarce 1954-F German Mark in MS-63 that catalogs for $650 in Krause. All three are solid for the assigned grades. Approximate retail value of $450. Inspection advised." This type was struck 1939-40. It is not rare but seldom seen, particularly in nice condition. The last 250 lei was issued in 1941.
