Regensburg 1638 1/2 thaler
This specimen was lot 3119 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €1,300 (about US$1,706 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS FERDINAND III. 1/2 Reichstaler 1638, mit Titel Ferdinands III. Münzmeister Johann Putzer. Von großer Seltenheit. Hübsche Patina, kl. Henkelspur, winz. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand, sehr schön. (city of Regensburg, half thaler of 1638, in the name of Ferdinand III. Extremely rare, small mount mark, some edge defects, very fine.)"
This type was struck 1638-39. It was 45 kreuzer or three-fourths of a gulden.
