Regensburg (15)95 120 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 3062 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €11,000 (about US$14,133 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS RUDOLF II., 1576-1612. Dicker doppelter Guldentaler 1595, mit Titel Rudolfs II. Geprägt mit den Stempeln des einfachen Guldentalers. Münzmeister Erhardt Scherl. Stadtschlüssel in Renaissanceschild, zu den Seiten die geteilte Jahreszahl 9 - 5//Gekrönter Doppeladler mit Reichsapfel auf der Brust, darin Wertzahl 60. Von größter Seltenheit. Feine Patina, Henkelspur, fast vorzüglich. (city of Regensburg, thick double guldenthaler of 1595, in the name of Rudolf II, struck with regular guldenthaler dies. Obverse: crossed keys in fancy shield divides the two digit date; reverse: crowned double-headed eagle with the imperial orb on its breast with the value. Extremely rare, fine patina, mount mark, about extremely fine.)"
The auctioneers state that this double gulden and the accompanying triple gulden (KM MB180) are later restrikes of the original gulden (KM MB158). Others are known dated 1584 and 1588. This example realized double the catalog value.
