Prussia 1912-A 20 mark
This specimen was part of lot 4202 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), which sold for €3,000 (about US$4,175 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Wilhelm II. 1888-1918. 20 Mark 1893, 1895, 1902, 1904, 1906 (3x), 1912 (2x), A. 9 Stück., Sehr schön und besser. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, William II, 1888-1918, twenty mark of 1912. [One of] nine pieces, very fine and better.)"
This is the next to last year of issue for this type. The emperor donned a uniform for the next issue of 1913-15, the last gold twenty mark struck in Prussia before defeat in World War One destroyed the empire.
