Prussia 1910-A 20 mark
This specimen was lot 4139 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €1,900 (about US$2,561 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"REICHSGOLDMÜNZEN, PREUSSEN Wilhelm II. 1888-1918. 20 Mark 1910, A. In US-Plastikholder der PCGS mit der Bewertung PR 64 DEEP CAMEO. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Winz. Kratzer, polierte Platte. (unified gold coinage, kingdom of Prussia, William II, 1888-1918, twenty mark of 1910, in PCGS PR 64 DEEP CAMEO HOLDER. Rare in this grade, minor marks, proof.)"
This specimen is one of a type struck 1890-1913 at Berlin (mintmark "A") and Hamburg (mintmark "J"). Most of the later dates, including this one, are common but the proofs are rare.
Recorded mintage: 8,646,000 + 753,000 from Hamburg.
