Künker sale 352, lot 2289

This specimen was lot 2289 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €8,000 (about US$11,134 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"REICHSGOLDMÜNZEN, SACHSEN-MEININGEN, Georg II. 1866-1914. 20 Mark 1910. R Winz. Kratzer, vorzüglich. Erworben bei der Firma Helbing, München. (Germany, unified gold coinage of the empire, duchy of Saxe-Meiningen, George II, 1866-1914, twenty mark of 1910. Rare, scratches, extremely fine. Bought from Helbing in Munich.)"

The gold issues of this locale are scanty and rare. This type was struck again in 1914 but in no greater quantity.

Recorded mintage: 1,004 plus proofs.

Specification: 7.97 g, 0.900 fine gold, 0.230 troy oz AGW.
