This specimen was lot 74570 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Prussia. 2 Mark, 1898-A. Berlin Mint. Wilhelm II. PCGS PROOF-64. This lovely Proof exhibits flashy fields and fine design detail. The surfaces are darkly toned, with russet, cobalt, and lilac in the color mix. From the Richard Margolis Collection." This type was struck 1891-1912 and is common tho not so common as the commemorative KM-532.
Recorded mintage: 1,045,187, a better date.
