Künker sale 353, lot 4131

This specimen was lot 4131 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €50 (about US$70 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm IV. 1840-1861. Ku.-3 Pfennig 1845, A. Vorzüglich. Bei dem vorliegenden Münztyp wurde ab 1843 auf der Vorderseite die Krone sowie das Monogramm auf dem Adler verändert. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William IV, 1840-61, copper three pfennig of 1845. Extremely fine. This example shows the modified crown and monogram on the eagle.)"

This type was struck 1843-45.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a common date.

Specification: 4.57 g, copper, 23.5 mm diameter, this specimen 4.59 g.
