The first specimen was lot 42415 in Stack's Bowers Winter sale (Baltimore, November 2015), where it sold for $998.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Portuguese India. Rupia, 1903. NGC MS-63. Light iridescent pastel tone across much of the lower obverse. No distracting marks or problems." This type is listed for 1903-04 and is not rare in circulated condition.
Recorded mintage: 200,000.
Specification: 11.68 g, 0.917 fine silver, 30.5 mm diameter.
