This specimen was part of lot 40605 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $6,462. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Goa. Rupia, 1904. NGC PROOF-65. Unlisted as a proof in both KM and Gomes. VERY RARE. Attractively toned with vibrant blue across fields and in protected areas." This type is listed for 1903-04 but no proofs are mentioned in the SCWC.

Recorded mintage: 100,000.

Specification: 11.68 g, 0.917 fine silver, 30.5 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-17 (for type); Gomes-05.02 (uncirculated) or Gomes-05.03 (proof-like).
