This specimen was lot 2941 in Stephen Album sale 37 (Santa Rosa, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $119. The catalog description[1] noted, "PORTUGUESE INDIA: Carlos I, 1889-1908, AE ½ tanga, 1903, small lamination defect on obverse, Unc." This type was also struck 1901 and is not rare. It was struck by the British under contract.

Recorded mintage: 600,000.
