The SCWC states that this NCLT was issued for the 150th anniversary of the Bank of Portugal, a event of significance only to insiders. The use of debased silver suggests that even the mint considered it unimportant. The escudo was dumped in 2001 when Portugal joined the euro.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 13.87 g, 0.500 fine silver, reeded edge.
Catalog reference: KM 702.
