Portugal 1993 200 escudos KM-668
This specimen was lot 31155 in Heritage auction 3096 (Dallas, TX, March 2021), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "Portugal: Republic gold Proof "Arte Namban" 200 Escudos 1993-INCM PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC. This issue depicts figures artistically rendered in the Japanese Nanban style that was heavily influenced by centuries of contact with Europeans, primarily Portuguese traders. A visually interesting piece with watery fields. From the Paramount Collection." This is one of many NCLT's issued to celebrate the glories of Portugal's past. It was issued in copper-nickel, silver, gold and platinum.
Recorded mintage: 1,000,000 in copper-nickel, 22,000 in silver (plus 30,000 silver proofs), 7,000 in gold and 2,000 in platinum.
