The first specimen was lot 43296 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "PORTUGAL. 5 Escudos, 1934. Lisbon Mint. PCGS MS-65." This type was struck 1932-34, 1937, 1940-48 and 1951; many dates are common but this one is rather scarce. Two-and-a-half and ten escudos also exist with this design.
Recorded mintage: 1,012,000.
Specification: 7 g, .650 fine silver, .146 troy oz ASW, 25 mm diameter.
