The first specimen is lot 1390 in UBS sale 84 (Basel, January 2010). The catalog description[1] noted,
"PORTUGAL (Münzstätte Lissabon) Republik. 5 Escudos 1932. Selten. Sehr schön-vorzüglich.." (Portugal, Lisbon mint, republic, 5 escudos of 1932. Rare, very fine-extremely fine).
This type was struck 1932-51; many dates are common but this one is rare. Two-and-a-half and ten escudos also exist with this design.
Recorded mintage: 800,000.
Specification: 7 g, .650 fine silver, .146 troy oz ASW, 25 mm diameter; the first specimen: 7.04 grams.
