from the Stack's Bowers 2020 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71524

This specimen was lot 71524 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $312. The catalog description^[1] noted, "PORTUGAL. 5 Centavos, 1922. Lisbon Mint. NGC MS-64 Red Brown. A nicely struck coin with subtle luster and abundant remaining mint red." This type was struck 1920-22; the 1922 is rare. No five centavos were struck after 1927.

Recorded mintage: 5,916,000 for 1921-22.
