This type was struck in Lisbon 1863-89 and is one of the more common of Portuguese silver coins. Silver hundred and two hundred réis bearing this portrait also exist along with a series of gold issues. This is the most common date.

Recorded mintage: 2,740,000 (highest mintage date).

Specification: 12.5 g, 0.917 fine silver, .368 troy oz ASW, 30 mm diameter.
