This specimen was lot 7109 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $141. The catalog description[1] noted, "PORTUGAL. 2,000 Reis, 1857. NGC VF-25. Peripheral orange peel tone." This denomination appeared after the conversion to decimal coinage in 1836. It was struck 1856-57 but is seldom seen compared to later issues that featured Luis I.

Specification: 3.54 g, 0.917 fine gold, 20 mm diameter.
