This specimen was lot 23150 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $763.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "PORTUGAL. 1/2 Escudo, 1776. Jose I (1750-77). PCGS AU-53 Secure Holder. Light attractive toning." This type is noted for 1751 and 1765-76 along with KM 244.2 with IOSEPHUS in the obverse legend. Tho not expensive in the SCWC, it is seldom seen.
