This type is listed for 1762-75 and this date is fairly common. A few (KM 255.2), struck 1762-63, spelled the king's name with a "I". The gold 400 réis was called a pinto and traded for 480 réis. The silver 400 réis was called a cruzado novo. Altho this type has a Davenport number, it's too small to be called a crown.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 14.7 g, 0.917 fine silver.
Catalog reference: KM 255.1, Dav-1630.
