This specimen was lot 30928 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "João V gold 2000 Reis 1712, AU Details (Surface Hairlines) NGC. The central devices are mostly complete, with luster that has been softened by a past cleaning. While common for the type, several planchet striations (as made) remain visible on the reverse." This meia moeda was struck in Lisbon 1707-18, 1721 and 1725, after which this denomination was struck only in Brazil.
