This specimen was lot 4265 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $616.88. The catalog description[1] noted, "PORTUGAL. 4,000 Reis, 1711. Lisbon Mint. João V (1706-50). NGC VF Details--Scratches. Some scratches on the reverse." This scarce type was struck in Lisbon 1707-22 and in Porto 1712-14 but ceased thereafter. The moidore instead became a familiar coin of Brazil.
