This specimen was lot 42525 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $6,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "PORTUGAL. Real Grosso, ND (1475-79). Porto Mint. Alfonso V. PCGS AU-58. Struck for Castille & Leon. Obverse: Coat-of-arms of Portugal; P above, pellets-in-annulets around; Reverse: Coat-of-arms of Spain; C above, pellets-in-annulets around. Possessing absolutely staggering quality for the type, this alluringly toned near-Mint example provides a sharp, well centered strike and great toning highlighted by some golden-amber hues that pair exceedingly well with the gunmetal gray backdrop."
