This specimen was lot 42524 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $4,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "PORTUGAL. Real Grosso, ND (1457). Porto Mint. Alfonso V. PCGS AU-55. Obverse: Crown above ALFQ; P below; Reverse: Cruciform shields within double polylobe, with pellets-in-annulets in angles. Emanating from a lesser-encountered mint, this SCARCE, nearly-Uncirculated specimen provides a well centered and well executed strike upon each side, with an alluring deep gray nature to the toning observed. Some glints of brilliance are even seen among the protected areas, simply elevating its overall appeal that much more."
